OLYMPIAN JILL MOFFAT & NON-PROFIT MOMENTUM NAMED VICTORY VENTURE’S INAUGURAL WINNER
“I joined this program off the back of my second Olympics, and it provided the perfect opportunity to channel my energy into something new. Without a business background, I was a bit nervous, but I found the content digestible and quickly adopted new practices and perspectives to help build our non-profit, MOMentum. What I loved the most about the program was that it helped hone in on the skills we have already developed as athletes and challenged us to think about how we can bring these unique attributes into a different space. This gave me the confidence that although I don't have a background in business or entrepreneurship, the skills I gained as an Olympian give me a unique advantage.”
JILL MOFFAT, 2x Olympic Rower | PhD candidate | Co-Founder of MOMentum
After months of dedication and hard work from all athlete-founders came Pitch Competition. Every athlete-founder in residence showed up with vision, resilience, and commitment to building game-changing ventures – you are all an inspiration.
During Pitch Competition, the esteemed Jury Table of Victory Ventures had to choose one winner. We are proud to announce Jill Moffat as the winner of the Victory Ventures Accelerator’s inaugural cohort, receiving a $10,000 cash award going directly to propel her venture forward.
Moffatt, a two-time Olympic rower, PhD candidate, and journalist, has spent years advocating for gender equity in sports. After competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics, she returned home to Victoria, BC, determined to address a growing but overlooked issue: the challenges faced by mother-athletes in sport.
Inspired by the experiences of Olympians navigating parenthood, Jill co-founded MOMentum – an initiative dedicated to supporting women athletes through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting. She is joined by a team of Canadian Olympians, Paralympians, and researchers who are working together to build a system of support and advocacy for athlete-parents.
